WELCOME

“Writing is a way of talking without being interrupted” – Jules Renard

Welcome to my website and thank you for taking the time to look around. The ability to read and write, paired with our imagination, is our vehicle to transport us into other worlds. The limits are endless and allow us to engage in a wide range of emotion and experience. In short – books are pure magic!

It has been a lifelong goal to write and publish a book so this is very exciting for me.  The Adventures of Mabel and Max was written for my youngest daughter and so this is an exciting time for her too. I have written a further couple of books in the series in addition to starting on my first adult novel. I have also been writing my blog since lockdown in 2020, which I still update but not as regularly as I would like – life has a habit of getting in the way.

Hopefully this is the start of a long literary journey and I will be able to transport others into magical worlds too.

“A person who publishes a book appears wilfully in the public eye with his pants down.” – Edna St. Vincent Millay.

When is the Mabel and Max book due out?

The Adventures of Mabel and Max – The Search for the Silver Chicken was published in paperback on 31st March 2026.

What age is Mabel and Max series aimed at?

I wrote The Search for the Silver Chicken for my daughter when she was seven, and about to turn, eight years old. The book is aimed at children aged bewteen six and nine, depending whether the book is being read to them or whether they are early readers, just starting to read longer stories to themselves. The story captures the imagination of younger children in this bracket and is also accessible enough for older early readers to start to read independently.

What genres does Lindsay Walker write in?

In addition to the Mabel and Max series for children, I have also started work on my first adut contemporary fiction novel. This novel explores themes of personal growth, relationships, and the human experience. With a focus on character development and emotional depth, the story aims to engage readers and provoke thought, making it relatable and impactful.

In a world filled with pearls, sapphires and rubies, sometimes the greatest treasure is one you didn’t expect to find.

When Mabel and Max set off on the hunt for a lost jewel, these two very unlikely companions encounter a frog with flair, a musical grasshopper, and a beautiful bird, who might each have something to teach them about who they are and how to value their individual talents.

Can chickens fly?

What do lynxes eat?

What makes the best juggling balls?

And will Mabel and Max ever find what they are looking for?
